Western Blot (IgG) Human Antibody Test

Now Accepting Specimens

ECO Laboratory is a Massachusetts licensed and CLIA certified laboratory that now offers the Western Blot (IgG) antibody test to confirm exposure to Lyme disease.  Now accepting specimens from referring physicians.

How Does It Work?

Lyme disease is an inflammatory disease caused by bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, which is transmitted to humans by the deer tick. In 1994 the CDC, FDA, NIH and others recommended a two-test methodology using a sensitive enzyme immunoassay (EIA) or immunofluorescence assay (IFA) as a first test, followed by a western immunoblot assay for specimens yielding positive or equivocal results.

The B. burgdorferi (IgG) MARBLOT Strip Test system, which ECO Laboratory performs, qualifies as the confirmation of the first test in later stages of infection. This test system is a Western blot assay for the qualitative detection of human IgG antibody to individual proteins of Borrelia burgdorferi in human serum.

Results You Can Trust

ECO Laboratory will provide results within 48 hours.  Our reports will not report merely a positive or negative finding; rather, ECO Laboratory will include all detectable antigen proteins with an image of the reactive strip available upon request.

These detailed results will allow you and your doctor to tailor your treatment plan based on your exposure.

ECO Laboratory is a leader in tick testing.  Positive results and treatment options should be discussed with a medical professional.
