The Line Blot (IgG) Human Antibody Test for Lyme Disease
In 1994 the CDC, FDA, NIH and others recommended a two-test methodology using a sensitive enzyme immunoassay (EIA) or immunofluorescence assay (IFA) as a first test, followed by a western immunoblot assay for specimens yielding positive or equivocal results. The B. burgdorferi (IgG) B31 Line blot, which ECO Laboratory performs, qualifies as the confirmation of the first test in later stages of infection. This test system is a Line blot assay for the qualitative detection of human IgG antibody to individual proteins of Borrelia burgdorferi in human serum.
